The complete guide of Amazon Jungle Tours in Iquitos, Perú (updated 2024)

Hello dear travelers. In this post I’m going to write about the main amazon jungle tours in Iquitos, Perú.

Many people contact us to get some genuine information about the tours in Iquitos because they “find online information quite confusing”. Can’t blame them. TripAdvisor, Booking and Google are full of fake reviews, and they don’t give a d*mn about moderating them. Most of the time, I don’t have time to explain everything all over again so I think it’s better to just write this post and send the link whenever people need it.

Anyway, fear no more fellow travelers! The days of online confusing information are over! I can assure you that this post contains legit information, with 0$ commision, and no preference at all.

Also, please, keep in mind that I’m not responsible if something goes wrong with the tour you choose. The agencies in this post are the ones that I know most of my guests had a good time with, but that doesn’t make them 100% perfect, nobody is free of mistakes, though is not something common, you should be aware of that and focus in the most important thing of the tour: the jungle itself. I can tell you that whenever my guests have a bad time in the jungle is for these reasons: going to a shitty tour(these companies are not in these list), being lied about the activities, getting not enough food, getting a shitty accommodation and being a bad guest (expecting too much, complaining about everything, not loving the jungle the way it is). So, if you make sure with the company you choose that everything is good to go, then you may have an almost 100% good experience in the jungle.

Things to note: For a good experience in the jungle, the minimum and average is 3 days 2 nights. For a good experience in Pacaya Samiria, the average recommeded days are 5 days, 4 nights (since you spend almost two days in coming and going).

If you want to go deep in the jungle, you at least need to go 10 days into the jungle, but you would only want to this kind of expedition if you are a Nat Geo photographer or you really really love exploring the jungle. The average for the normal tourist, is 3 days, 2 nights.

The tour companies I recommend here do adventure tours, trecking, fishing, camping. The most genuine and fun tour for the average traveler. This tour has a minimum price of 150 soles to 300 soles to be well delivered. If it’s less than 150 soles per day, you are probably going to a not so good tour.

The definitive list of amazon tour agencies in Iquitos, Perú

Affordable ones: (between 150 soles to 250 soles per day, per person)

  • Selvaventura Jungle Trips (+51 993 613 112): This a really good tour company that goes mostly to the Amazon River area, the owner and manager are one of the few that never came here to offer me commission and I always heard good reviews from them. The owner can give you really good deals because the Amazon River Tours cost less to operate. I would define their tour as basic but good.
  • Lupuna Jungle Tours (+51 965 989 749): This is one of the most standard tours out there, and also one of the few in their price range that actually owns a lodge(humble but comfortable). They go around Yarapa River, around and close to Pacaya Samiria. The owner, Angelo, is a very honest and trustworthy man who wants the best for the tourists. Most of the time, this is my go-to when people ask me about a standard option.
  • Raul – Israeli Guide (+51 958 443 260): This guy is also one of the best men I ever met in this business. He doesn’t even need to be in this list, because he’s popular among the israeli community so he’s always busy. Nevertheless, he can also offer amazing tours with good prices to non-israeli travelers so definitely it’s worth checking out.
  • Amazon Green Treasure Tours (+51 965 769 882): Another really good company that can provide amazing jungle tours with affordable prices.
  • Jacamar Lodge Expeditions (+51 964 221 486): Another really good standard tour that has a very comfortable lodge.
  • Ruth Amazon Expeditions (+51 965 001 929): This is the best affordable option for Pacaya Samiria which has to be expensive for the logistics in getting there and the entry fee for the park. Ruth is a very sweet lady who also wants the best for the tourists.

Expensive ones: (+100 USD per day, per person). From these guys I cannot say much because their own job speak of themselves.

  • Amazon Experience: (they go to Pacaya Samiria as well)
  • Muyuna Lodge (the only company I know that gives you a gift the day before the tour)
  • Treehouse Lodge (the only in its type with literally treehouses!)
  • Otorongo Expeditions rawr!
